Shopping behaviour research in the public sector
The Shopping Behaviour Xplained Ltd
methodology was initially developed to meet the
needs of retail clients. However, more recently a number of
non-retail areas where shopping behaviour research and people counting can provide
important information have been identified.
-
Airports -
Understand pedestrian flow and
start to address the problems experienced by those queuing.
-
Hospitals -
Again address queuing issues and
identify some of the root causes of patient frustrations.
-
Road junctions - More than just vehicle counts. What types of
vehicle/driver cause which specific problems?
-
Sports arenas -
Identify entry and exit
congestion caused by an unbalanced traffic flow.
Fact:- When a
British motorway becomes blocked, the resultant queue averagely increases
by a mile a minute.
Fact:- The long
single queue at the airport check-in has been proved to move more quickly than
the individual lines to each desk. But the perception is quite different.
